Polus Center
I have worked as a volunteer with the
Polus Center for Social and Economic Development since 1998. This small, Massachusetts-based human services agency has undertaken numerous projects aimed at improving the lives of people with disabilities in developing countries. Many of the people I have met and photographed have lost limbs due to war, landmines, disease, and poverty. I have documented the efforts to create prosthetic clinics, innovative victim assistance programs, job training, and wheelchair workshops in Nicaragua, Honduras, Ethiopia, and Peru.
